On the heels of the Minnesota House of Representatives passing a marriage equality bill and just hours before the Senate is to vote on the same bill, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has renamed the city’s famed Wabasha Bridge the “Freedom to Marry Bridge,” according to the Mayor’s Twitter page.

“I renamed the Wabasha Bridge the Freedom to Marry Bridge for this week,” Coleman tweeted. “Marriage equality here we come #Time4Marriage.”

On the days leading up to the House vote, Coleman tweeted he would be keeping a close watch and hoped lawmakers would make the right choice. He also expressed his pleasure when the bill was passed.

“Could not be more proud of the MN House. 75 votes, and on to the Senate,” Coleman wrote. “Now is the time for marriage equality. #mnmarriage.”
