Those in the LGBT community who support President Trump will be taking the streets of Washington D.C in a few weeks for a celebratory march.
Group “Gays for Trump” will have their second annual “March4Trump” event on March 4, according to the Washington Blade.
The event will be on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and will consist of a rally and a march. Attendees will be marching from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House as they express their support for the president and his administration.
Gays for Trump founder and president Peter Boykin expects a large turnout of both straight and gay people for this year’s event. Although he criticized Trump for some of the actions he’s taken in office, such as his attempted ban on trans people in the military, overall he believes the administration is doing an exceptional job.
“I think Trump is doing very well,” Boykin told the Washington Blade. “I give Donald Trump big praise.”
The North Carolina-based group has sparked controversy in the past fews years with reported instances of violence and offensive actions towards the LGBT community.
LGBTQ Nation reports that the group raised funds for a Gays For Trump billboard in Orlando, near the site of the Pulse nightclub shooting and that Boykin’s husband was kicked out of a 2016 Trump Rally for assaulting a protester.
The March 4 event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the march beginning promptly at 4 p.m. Boykin expects about 1,000 people to attend this year’s event.
