A debate between two Democratic candidates in California took a turn to the erotic thanks to hackers.

Green Party candidate Lewis Elbinger and Democrat David Peterson were interrupted by several seconds of gay porn images during their debate for California’s 1st Congressional District seat, according to Pink News. Debate moderator Chris Verrill revealed that the stream for the debate had been hacked and that they stopped the debate to try and fix it.

Radio station KFOI 90.9 FM and an online stream were both broadcasting the event at the time of the hacking. A plan to show the debate on the local PBS affiliate KIXE was also scrapped after the debate was halted.

"We had a community forum, and while it's disappointing people did not respect us, or the candidates, or more importantly the democratic process, or the community, that's part of the way democracy works," Verrill said to local television station KRCR.

Independent Like the North State was the group that had organized the debate, the first time they have ever done so according to PinkNews.

The two candidates in the debate are both vying for the Democratic nomination to face incumbent and Republican Doug LaMalfa. The seat will be up for reelection this November.

Both candidates have agreed to redo the debate if possible, according to PinkNews.
