This year Lance Bass and his husband Michael Turchin are hoping 6 is their lucky number. After five-failed surrogacy attempts the couple are hoping for a baby in 2019.
‘We had several friends going through this and it took a little while but I think we’ve broken the record for how many donors we’ve gone through,” Bass said. “ We’re on donor number six right now and we don’t even know if that one’s gonna work. So, it has been a lot longer than I thought.”
Lance Bass then added: “But, hey, here’s to a 2019 baby!”
In 2016 Bass and his husband first publicly expressed interest in having children. They further opened up about it last year as they continued to struggle, with Bass stating “We have the surrogate right now and we’re just looking for the egg donor. So once we find that egg donor we’re ready to go.”
Husband and artist Michael then compared the search for a donor - and the process of scrolling through profiles - to using Tinder.
“It’s like dating profiles honestly, it’s like a Tinder of egg,” Turchin said according to to Gay Star News.
“You’re looking for the healthiest people. You look at the grandparents on both sides. You look for health first. And then you look at ‘Oh she’s tall.’ That’s great because I’m not. You piece it together,” Bass said about his fourth surrogate at the time
Bass was awarded the Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award in Oct. 2006.
