OUT Miami Foundation is holding two events back-to-back — one a town hall and the other an anniversary celebration — on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Hotel Gaythering, 1409 Lincoln Road, in Miami Beach.

At the town hall, attendees will get to speak directly with Miami’s LGBTQ community foundation, helping to shape future programs, initiatives and grants that will “improve the lives of LGBTQ people in Miami,” said executive director Jaime Bayo.

“It’s an opportunity to share with us some of the ideas you may have for the LGBT community, challenges, concerns,” Bayo said. “It’s an opportunity for anyone in the LGBT community and our allies to come to find out more about what the foundation is doing but also share with us what you feel we should be prioritizing at the foundation.”

Following the town hall, OUT Miami will hold an anniversary party, celebrating three years of the organization. Attendees will be treated to a complimentary cocktail and happy hour specials courtesy of Absolut.

OUT Miami is very involved in the LGBT community. About every three months, the organization hosts a mixer for LGBT professionals to network, have fun and meet other people. The event rotates at different venues every quarter. Previous mixers have been held in Wynwood, Brickell, at the Hotel Gaythering and The Anderson in upper Eastside Miami.

In addition, every month, OUT Miami hosts gay bingo at the Hotel Gaythering. The event won Best Theme Night in the South Florida Gay News’ “Best of 2017” contest.

“It’s a charity bingo, so up to $400 is up for grabs,” Bayo said. “And if you win, you get to spend your winnings with the charity of your choice.”

Bayo says when people hear bingo, “they think boring, retirement home and stuff but this is a different type of bingo.”

“It's just something different for people to do once a month to come out and support a couple of different organizations and have fun,” Bayo said.
