A comic book legend and a southeastern fan convention are joining forces to aid those struggling from Hurricane Irma.
MegaCon Tampa Bay is donating a portion of tickets sold to this weekend’s convention, beginning Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. For 2,000 tickets sold online, the convention will donate $5 per ticket to Feeding Florida, a network of Floridian food banks attempting to solve hunger and aid hurricane victims with food and emergency supplies.
“The generous support of the MegaCon Tampa Bay community will allow Feeding Florida to provide necessary supplies to our families directly impacted by Hurricane Irma,” said Feeding Florida Executive Director Robin Safley. “Partnerships like this allow our statewide network of food banks to continue to support every community and provide many of the front-line services required during response and recovery efforts.”
Stan Lee will also raise money at the convention. He will auction off a one-on-one meal and artwork from his personal collection on Friday, Sept. 29 during his panel.
“Florida is in need of some cheering up and what better person to do that than the one and only Stan Lee!” said FanExpo HQ President Andrew Moyes. “We are excited to be bringing Stan to Tampa Bay for the first time and to work with him to support those communities impacted by Hurricane Irma.”
MegaCon and Stan Lee estimate they will be able to donate $20,000 combined to Feeding Florida.
