Scandals may have closed. But its popular Sunday Tea Dance will continue to live on.
The owner of Le Boy, Sean David, reached out to the entire bartending crew of Scandals and has hired them to use his venue to continue and promote the famous club’s popular ‘Sunday Tea.’
Patrons can expect to see the familiar faces of Scandals' top drink masters, including Wade, Travis, Vince, and Billy. Along with the pouring team, Le Boy has brought in DJs Frank Corr and Bill.
“We can’t be everything to everyone, David said, “but Scandals has a huge following and faithful customers, and we felt it was a good opportunity to provide them a continuing home on one of their popular afternoons.”
Even after the rains on Memorial Day weekend, Le Boy was packed with Scandals customers last Sunday.
The bear and country western bar, Scandals, was located at Northeast 6th Avenue in Oakland Park officially closed its doors on May 20.
Scandals Owner Ken Kelley posted this on Facebook before the closure.
“It is with a very heavy heart I had to make this decision . . . It has been an amazing thirteen years and I am truly blessed to have been a part of this community. Thank you again to all those who stayed with us. God Bless each of you.”
Kelley said his “business suffered horribly” after he had to put in valet parking.
“So many of our customers refused to support Scandals any longer. For those of you who stood by…I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't imagine my life without Scandals. Life most definitely got in the way this past year with my second cancer diagnosis. I haven't been able to devote the time and energy to Scandals for a long time but that truly should not have made that much difference.”
