On Saturday, the City of Fort Lauderdale is staging a ceremonial groundbreaking for its long awaited Old Dixie Highway Complete Streets Project.
The celebration is scheduled for Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Middle River Terrace Park, 1329 N.E. 7th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Planned activities include: Live entertainment, children’s games, raffles, Segway lessons, historical presentations and light refreshments.
Anyone who rides a bicycle to the ground breaking is eligible to receive free safety inspections (A $45 value).
The project, city officials say, is 100 years in the making. It aims to make the narrow thoroughfare connecting Wilton Manors to Fort Lauderdale safer and more applicable for pedestrians and bicyclists.
