From our media partner Sun Sentinel: Broward Circuit Court Judge Dale Cohen became the third judge in less than a month to strike down the state's ban on same sex marriage.

He ruled in the case of Heather Brassner and Megan Lade, who got a civil union in Vermont in 2002 but subsequently separated. Now, Brassner wants a divorce. But Lade has moved on and seemingly disappeared.

"We spent months trying to find Megan Lade and we couldn't," Brodzki said.

She hired a private investigator, to no avail, so now Brassner wants the divorce granted in absentia. However, the state of Florida doesn't recognize the civil union in the first place.

An immediate stay of his ruling is expected.
