Mix, mingle, and dance the night away at Compass’ 5th Annual White Party!
The Compass White Party takes place on Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. to Midnight at Penny's at the Duke in Lantana. Penny’s address is 902 N Dixie Highway in Lantana.
White Parties take place all over the United States, and attendees wear white. The parties began in an effort to raise money for HIV/AIDS research and Compass continues that tradition. Compass’ White Party is held in recognition of National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NGMHAAD).
NGMHAAD is observed each year on Sept. 27 to direct attention to the continuing and disproportionate impact of HIV and AIDS on gay and bisexual men in the U.S. It is another opportunity to get tested for HIV and to talk about safe sex and PrEP. It is also a chance to learn about advances in HIV/AIDS care.
Compass’ White Party will include raffles, jello shots and drag queens/kings, but the fun is part of fundraising. The money raised goes to help those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in Palm Beach County. The proceeds raised from this year’s event will benefit the SMART Ride, the 165-mile bike ride from Miami to Key West that raises money for HIV/AIDS in Florida.
“This is an event you do not want to miss!” says Dylan Brooks, Compass HIV Testing & Mpowerment Coordinator. “Who knew you could have fun, dance the night away, win some amazing prizes, and help those living with or affected by HIV here in South Florida?”
Compass is the LGBT community center in Palm Beach County.
