Jéssica Ananias, 23, was shot in the head on July 2 in Tocantins, a state in central Brazil.

Ananias, who is a sex worker, was allegedly shot by one of her frequent clients, riding a black motorcylce, according to Gay Star News. He accused her of stealing his phone, and when Ananias refused to give him hers, he shot her in the head.

No one has been arrested in Ananias’ murder, according to local media outlet Sou De Palmas.

Crimes against LGBT people tripled since homophobic President Jair Bolsonaro campaigned last year. A study released in June found 141 registered murders of LGBT people in Brazil, Gay Star News reported. Brazil’s Supreme Court criminalized homophobia and transphobia on May 28.
