(EDGE) The gay conversion therapy drama "The Miseducation of Cameron Post," starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Sasha Lane, received its first trailer this week.
Directed by Desiree Akhavan ("Appropriate Behavior"), the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner takes place in the 90s and follows a group of teens who are sent to a gay conversion therapy camp. According to the film's synopsis, Cameron Post (Moretz) is "sent to a gay conversion therapy center after getting caught with another girl on prom night." The camp is "run by the strict and severe Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr.).
"In the face of intolerance and denial, Cameron meets a group of fellow sinners including Jane (Lane), and her friend, Adam (Forrest Goodluck). Together, this group of teenagers form an unlikely family as they fight to survive."
"The Miseducation of Cameron Post," an adaptation of Emily M. Danforth's book, hits select theaters on August 3. Check out the trailer below.
