It is easy to lose track of the number of breast cancer fundraisers that happen every October.
This year, one stands out.
The inaugural Boobie Bash Run/Walk/Benefit will raise money for breast cancer screenings for medically underserved women in Broward County.
This free event will bring together our community for a 1.5-mile journey which begins/ends at Rumors Bar in Wilton Manors on Thursday, October 18 at 7 p.m. No preregistration is required.
Presented by Front Runners & Walkers Fort Lauderdale, South Florida’s largest Gay & Lesbian social running and walking group, the Boobie Bash will raise funds for the Broward Health Foundation’s Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund.
The Fund provides breast cancer screenings and treatment, if necessary, to women in the community. One-hundred percent of all money raised on October 18 will be donated to the fund and all money stays local.
"We hope lesbians, gay men and their allies will turn out to support the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, have some fun with their friends and meet the Front Runners & Walkers Fort Lauderdale,” said Eric Runyan, Front Runners & Walkers President. “We know from experience that people are more likely to an sustain an exercise program if they do it with supportive friends and have fun doing it. Our club welcomes all fitness levels, walkers and runners. Starting Nov. 14th we are offering our free annual couch to 5K for those who'd would like to try out running from a gentle beginning."
A raffle will be held with a chance to win great prizes including a pair of P!NK concert tickets at the BB&T Center.
