Known for never backing down from his opponent in the ring, Steven James Anderson, better known as Stone Cold Steve Austin, has thrown his support behind same-sex marriage, saying he’s for it.
In a podcast recorded back in July 2013, the former WWE wrestler took shots at anti-gay religious groups, telling them to get off their “high horse.”
“I’m for same-sex marriage,” Austin said in the podcast. “I believe that any human being in America, any human being in the world, that wants to be married…if it’s the same-sex, more power to them.”
Austin’s support for marriage equality comes from some of his close friends being gay. A clip from his podcast can be found on YouTube, where he uses colorful language to voice his opinions toward religious groups and their opposition to gays.
The WWE is also known for being for gay rights and marriage equality. WWE star Darren Young made history by recently coming out as gay, and the company threw its support behind him.
Austin’s famous line, “You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn’t get you anywhere! Talk about your psalms, talk about John 3:16… Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!”
Well, it does seem like Austin has laid down some type of whooping to anti-gay religious groups.
