We all know Twitter can be the worst. So it should come to no surprise that Anderson Cooper, who moderated the second presidential debate Sunday, was the target of many social media users' ire, with some taking things to the next level by using gay slurs.

Cooper, who moderated the event alongside Martha Raddatz, made history by becoming the first openly gay man to moderate a presidential debate. But the worst part of Twitter, who took issue with the CNN anchor's tough questioning, made things personal by using homophobia in their criticisms of Cooper.
