(EDGE) After coming out as a transgender woman in April, "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Gia Gunn took to social media this week to reveal the gender on her birth certificate has been corrected.
"No document will ever validate or justify my gender, but I am so proud of myself for getting this done! See your LGBT center for help," Gunn tweeted last week along with a photo of her birth certificate. Under "sex," Gunn's gender reads "female."
In a moving note back in April, Gunn revealed to fans she is transgender, opening up about her transition, saying at the time she's "been on hormone replacement therapy for about a year." She added she will now "identify as a female and I am indeed transgender."
"I thought I would dedicate today in the spirit of being visible to share my transition with all of you," Gunn said in an Instagram video. She later speaks directly to her fans and followers:
"...If you are in transition or struggling with your gender identity, I want to hear from you in the comments and let's be visible."
