Chorus Sings with Pride
Voices of Pride, the Gay Men’s Chorus of the Palm Beaches, has a busy month of performances ahead. They give their inaugural concert at the Delray Beach hotspot, the Arts Garage, on Friday, May 11, with Born this Way, a show that celebrates divas, drag, disco and plenty of show tunes. The guys promise audiences will share a smile, a laugh and even a tear as they sing the gamut from beautiful ballads to Lady Gaga. Tickets are $15-25 in advance at ArtsGarage.org or $20-30 at the door. Arts Garage is located at 180 NE 1st St.
Two of the hottest tickets in town are to upcoming performances at the Hard Rock Live at the Hard Rock Seminole Casino and Resort in Hollywood. On Wednesday, May 16, singer Melissa Etheridge takes the stage with the soulful tunes that have earned her a dedicated straight and gay following alike. Then, on May 17, funny lady Joan Rivers will make fun of herself and just about everybody else with a night of stand-up comedy. Tickets are $50-$70 for Melissa Etheridge and $35-$55 for Joan Rivers, plus applicable fees, at HardRockLiveHollywoodFl.com.

Gable Stage opened its strong production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still last weekend at the Biltmore in Coral Gables. The producing artistic director again assembled a wonderful cast for this ensemble piece about the difficulties a photojournalist (Deborah Sherman) faces when she returns home, wounded by a roadside bomb during an assignment in Iraq. Sometimes a snapshot is not just a moment in time captured on a camera, as Sherman and co-stars Steve Garland, Betsey Graver and Gregg Weiner reveal in nuanced performances, as the friends and lovers examine their lives and relationships. The show runs Thursday to Sunday through June 2. Tickets are $35.50 – $50 at GableStage.org.
